Our Club

Taekwondo development with a strong foundation.

UNIMAS Taekwondo Club operates under the coaching and technical guidance of Kuching Taekwondo & Self-Defence Centre.

Who We Are

More than training

Our club gives beginners and experienced students a structured place to develop technical skill, fitness and character. Training builds discipline, confidence, respect, leadership and sportsmanship while creating a pathway toward grading and competition.

KTSDC's main training centre is in Petra Jaya, Kuching. Our club training is guided by an experienced 6th Dan coach with more than 20 years of experience developing students from primary school through university level.

Our Coach

Coaching Philosophy

Balanced Taekwondo Development

Training builds a broad Taekwondo foundation rather than concentrating exclusively on one competitive discipline. Students develop fundamentals alongside both Kyorugi and Poomsae, supported by fitness, discipline, coordination and progressive technical development.

Student Development

From First Steps to Higher Levels

Throughout more than two decades of coaching, he has introduced and developed students from their earliest stages in Taekwondo. Some athletes who began their Taekwondo journey under his coaching later progressed to become competition medalists and participate at state, national and international levels, including SUKMA, the SEA Games and international events.

For several Kuching-based athletes, he served as their first Taekwondo coach when they were young, helping establish an early foundation in technique, discipline, physical conditioning and understanding of the sport before they continued developing through later stages of their careers.

Competition is one possible pathway—not an expectation. Students can train for Taekwondo knowledge, fitness, discipline, confidence, belt progression, Kyorugi, Poomsae or competition according to their goals.

Technical Leadership

A recognised route forward

Separate from the regular 6th Dan club coach, grading is led through the club's established technical relationship with KTSDC. Grandmaster Tan Check Joon, 8th Dan and Technical Chairman of PTNS, provides grading and broader technical leadership.
